POSITION:  Marine Equipment Repairer/NA-8610-05                               SALARY:  $18.44-$21.51/PH

 

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:  Flexible (May be scheduled to work up to 40 hours weekly. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts. No group benefits included.)

DUTIES:  Primary purpose of this position is the repair and maintenance of all rental boats, ramps, docks, moorings, sails and facility surroundings. Fabricate parts and equipment. Gives basic and advanced sailing or boating instructions. Assists both personnel and patrons to make sure that each has the proper equipment for the type of boating/sailing they will be doing. Assist personnel in the loading and unloading, launching, and recovering of rental & privately owned boats. Performs duties as cashier when required and all other related duties as assigned. Assist in the routine maintenance of approximately 35 rental sailboats, patrol boats, workboats, related gear, docks, piers, slips, moorings, boat ramps and all other facility surroundings. Due to the high usage rate of facility equipment all items must be kept clean and safe at all times. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be able to swim. Must be a self-starter and interested in people and be willing to help in their boating problems. Must be familiar with all boating equipment and be able to navigate and qualified to operate power boats in the 20 foot class; experienced in towing and boat handling in open water. Must be familiar with proper and safe procedures for launching and berthing of boats. Must be able to use hand and power tools (i.e. hand saws, hammers, nicto press tool, swedging tools, table saws, drill press, etc.) in the fabrication and maintenance of related gear and parts of rental boats and facility surroundings.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:  Will be working in enclosed spaces in hot humid weather about 75% of the time. Must be physically capable of sustained outdoor work, be able to stand, bend, climb, kneel, or work on even and uneven surfaces.  

 

 

NOTE:  As a condition of employment, selectee(s) will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 60 days of employment. This is the DOD standard method of payment of personnel. Employees will be subject to administrative action for failure to enroll unless a waiver has been obtained. Must meet requirements for local & national background check investigations (NACI). Drug testing is a requirement for positions deemed a Test Designated Position (TDP).
