POSITION: Marketing Assistant & Graphic Design/NF-1001-03 SALARY RANGE: $15.00-$23.00/PH

DUTIES: Management Assistant (55%) Incumbent assists the Marketing/Special Events/Sponsorship Director with developing comprehensive programs, events, and sponsorship on continuous basis for NAS Pensacola. Specifically maintains and types files for events, commercial sponsorship contracts, service agreements, entertainment contracts, and grant of permission contracts for food and resale vendors. Incumbent must assist with actively promoting various programs, special events, and entertainment for the region. Program planning includes assisting with strategies, program implantation and monitoring results. Incumbent utilizes telemarketing techniques, increases database for recruitment of potential sponsorship candidates and maintains liaison with military groups, DOD components, retiree and local military groups to determine special event and program preference. Incumbent promotes the wide range of MWR activities for authorized patrons and guests. Types press release for various media including but not limited to NASP Plan of the Wee, Gosport, At Ease, WNASTV, etc. Recommends promotional ideas, marketing strategies and distribution plans. Serves on committees to ascertain needs, solicit feedback, and introduce ideas. Conducts focus groups to assist manager in developing programs or special events for identified target audiences, contracts for entertainment for special events and required. Graphic/Web/Interactive Designer (45%) Incumbent is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining web sites and other social interactive application sites for MWR/CYP programs that pushes the MWR and markets MWR mission and markets MWR Pensacola as a “customer-driven” organization. Specifically collaborates with Marketing Director, Visual information Specialist and Department Managers to ensure that the content is current, accurate, audience friendly and of high quality. Incumbent creates art, graphics, photographs graphics and other multimedia files as necessary for integration on websites and other online/social interactive sites. Finds and tells the story around a given idea, event or program. Writes copy suited for web browsing yet conveys enough information to interest and inform the customer. Update, revise, or remove internet content in a timely manner. Implements the MWR electronic publishing for dissemination of information using email, websites, social net-working sites and new technologies as available. Manages a response system for web generated e-mail, phone calls, and regular mail, ensuring that responses are timely and that they reflect well on the Department. Maintains social net-working emails listings to compose and send timely, informative messages to MWR’s target audience. Stays current with latest graphic design programs, user interface and web technology trends. Ensures integrity of communications by keeping informed on legislation and DOD policies that affect internet and web site content. Other related duties as may be assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS: A degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design, Marketing, or Business Management; or equivalent work experience in a related field is highly desirable. Must be proficient and have current working knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Acrobat DC). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher). Must have a minimum of 2 years work experience in graphic design, marketing or related field. A strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design skills is preferred. Must have effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Must proofread materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance with the organizations policies, proper formatting including grammar, punctuation and spelling. An understanding of the latest social media trends and the role they play in marketing and advertising to MWR patrons is also preferred. Must be able to use a DSLR camera and GoPro for photography and video.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain and maintain a positively adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background screening or higher clearance as required by the Installation Security Manager. Will be required to work irregular hours which include assignments at night, weekends, Sundays, and holidays. Position involves occasional travel (5%). A valid state driver’s license must be obtained and maintained for this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be physically able to stand, bend, stoop and walk in performance of work. Incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Moderate lifting of up to 45 pounds may be required. If weight is over 45 pounds, seek assistance from another employee.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Job requires both indoor and outdoor work. Employee typically works indoors in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms, though outdoor venues for special events can be expected. Observances of normal safety practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and compliance with fire regulations are required. The area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
NOTE: As a condition of employment, selectee(s) will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 60 days of employment. This is the DOD standard method of payment of personnel. Employees will be subject to administrative action for failure to enroll unless a waiver has been obtained. Must meet requirements for local & national background check investigations (NACI). Drug testing is a requirement for positions deemed a Test Designated Position (TDP).
