POSITION: Supervisory Recreation Specialist/NF-0188-03 SALARY: $21.00- $25.00/ PH
EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Full Time (Scheduled to work 35-40 hours weekly. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Eligible for ALL group benefits.)

DUTIES: Responsible in planning and coordinating the procurement of supplies, equipment and services to ensure satisfactory operation of facilities. Responsible in administration of all assets in the branch offices for daily receipts, change funds, equipment, supplies, etc. Develops an annual budget with supporting data for inclusion in the overall recreation services program. Ensures that project maintenance cost are included in the budget process. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of facilities form the standpoint of cabin occupancy/site usage to determine unforeseen development or policy requirements. Adds or deletes items for gear issue. Provides strategic planning input to MWR Management in areas of recreational facilities and activities associated with Oak Grove Park and Bayou Grande Recreational Area. The incumbent supervises: Recreation Specialist/Operations Assistant, Housekeepers, Housekeeper Lead, Desk Clerk, Lead Desk Clerk, and Maintenance Workers. Incumbent also issues necessary orders and specific assignment orally and in writing as promulgated by the MWR Operations manager. Ensures proper indoctrination and training of personnel assigned to specialized maintenance functions. Prepares subordinate employee performance evaluations for MWR Operations Manager approval and approves/disapproves leave or other absences from work. WORKING CONDITIONS: May be required to work outside for long periods of time on rough ground. Incumbent may be required to bend, crawl, and lift objects to accomplish tasks. Must be physically fit to obtain a government driver’s license and operation government equipment. Incumbent supervises from lighted, well ventilated office environment, but is continually exposed to the outside environment, which at times may be during inclement weather. Hours and days of work may vary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be thoroughly familiar with the operations and maintenance of recreational cabins, campground facilities, and gear issue rental. Additionally responsible for the operating policies and procedures for a large picnic area with water sports equipment. Must be familiar with plumbing, electrical and air condition trades of repair. Knowledge gained through relative experience which enables the employee to competently and independently carry our continuing maintenance of new projects through proper application of principles, concepts and techniques common to rental cabins, campground, gear issue, and large picnic areas.
NOTE: As a condition of employment, selectee(s) will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 60 days of employment. This is the DOD standard method of payment of personnel. Employees will be subject to administrative action for failure to enroll unless a waiver has been obtained. Must meet requirements for local & national background check investigations (NACI). Drug testing is a requirement for positions deemed a Test Designated Position (TDP).
