POSITION:   Recreation Assistant Fitness Group Exercise/ NF-0189-02               SALARY RANGE:  $15.25/PH


EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Flexible (May be scheduled to work up to 40 hours weekly. Will be required to work weekends, holidays, and evening/rotating shifts. No group benefits.)

DUTIES:  Incumbent plans, designs, and instructs a variety of group fitness classes for small and large groups. Participates in brainstorming sessions to develop programs, events and classes for a well rounded physical fitness program. Keep up to date on the latest fitness trends, and developments. Answers questions regarding programs offered through the Fitness Center and/or other MWR facilities/services available to the customer. Continuously evaluates the participation and interest level of fitness classes and programs from the standpoint of participant responses, resources, unforeseen developments, and reports general wear and tear of collateral equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Must have NCCA accredited certification for Group Exercise and/or Personal Training or higher education in a related field. Must hold current CPR certification. Must have completed or obtain within 6 months, Navy Basic Fitness Training and . the Star Service Customer Care course. Knowledge of safe use and operation of fitness equipment, facility operations and basic fitness equipment maintenance/repair. Ability to plan, develop, maintain, evaluate and monitor all phases of the Fitness corrective/preventative maintenance program which include: Analyzing and diagnosing electrical and mechanical problems.  Analyzing, diagnosing, installing, operating and testing on various cardio, strength, selectorized equipment and small electronics. Ability to reads and interpret illustrated parts breakdowns (IBP), equipment manuals, and other manufacturer's technical specifications.


PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS  Work usually is indoors and may or may not be air conditioned or heated. Constant standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.  Care must be exercised in utilizing correct lifting techniques at all times.
